This mural was created for the newly opened outdoor adventure retailer, River City Adventure Co., in Portsmouth, OH. Through support from the Ohio Arts Council, the thematic elements of this mural and the slogan “Adventure Together Here” coincide with the language and symbolism of several other recent projects that have been installed in town. These projects are part of the Portsmouth Unity Project, a non-profit aimed at cultivating community engagement and activism with an emphasis on promoting equality, inclusivity, and healthy lifestyles.
Recalliing the familiar “Welcome To...” postcard signs, this mural fills the word “HERE” with a variety of outdoor activities that relate to the offerings of River City Adventure Co. and illustrate the beauty of the natural landscapes in the Southern Ohio region.
